When Andrew and I decided to ditch the city lives and move into an RV in West Virginia, we had no idea just how much it would change us. That first year, our hot showers lasted no more than three minutes. We didn't have internet until the second year. With such limited space, we quickly learned the difference what we thought we needed versus what we actually did. We put our health and wellness first and spent as much time outside as possible. The earth, the air, the sunshine, the sounds of nature- even the sound of silence- was medicine to us.
Our initial leap into starting our farm life was the RV- our temporary home while we were rehabbing our house on the property. This gave us a lot of inspiration for developing creative and sustainable ways of growing food. We were able to use a lot
of wood we scrapped out of our house to build bird coops.
We splurged on a fence before a kitchen and were growing crops and raising meat before our house was done. What we discovered along the way was even more profound. Our journey led us to a permaculture lifestyle that not only nourishes our bodies but also respects nature and its natural ecosystems that work in symbiotic relationships.
